Children's Art Workshop
On March 1st, 2014 I was blessed to be able lead a Children's Art Workshop for students in 1-6 grade at First Luther Church in Topeka. This workshop is sponsored by the Lutheran Fine Arts Council of Topeka and featured several hands-on art projects that were all inspired by the Bible and actually included Scripture verses on the back of the artwork. This not only allows the children the fun of engaging in Christ-centered projects with a group of their peers; it also creates opportunities for parents to engage their kids at home in conversations about God and the Bible as the reflect on the artwork made by the children.
We had just over 50 kids join us the day of the event which went very smoothly and was great fun. I also wrote some devotions to accompany the projects and allow parents to create opportunities to have Godly conversations with their children as we are encouraged to do in Deuteronomy 6:7. While the six devotions were inspired by the projects we made during the workshop, they certainly can be used without having been at the event. A copy of the devotions is available for download below.
