Gage Park Carousel Mural

In 2005 I had an opportunity to take on what has been my biggest project to date.  Painting a 10' x 20' mural on the back side of the Carousel in the Park Building in Gage Park.  The mural features the "Kansas Horse" as well as a number of design elements directly from the carousel like the ornate golden frames that surround all of the paintings on the top of the carousel.  The project took several weeks to complete and was the first time I collaborated on a piece with my daughter who's thumbprint is the white reflection in the horse's eye!  The mural was painted with premium exterior latex paint and protected by two coats of polycrylic varnish.  After over a decade of direct sunlight, there has been nearly no color fading.
