Epiphany (Psalm 139:14)
Epiphany (Psalm 139:14), Acrylic on canvas, 48" x 24", 2007 ~SOLD~
This painting was the third in the "Joyflow" series and personally became a pivotal piece in the direction of my art. In the previous two paintings I was having a lot of "biological" thoughts, marveling at the miracle of our bodies. In the twisting and weaving lines I was imagining the complexity of our design. I was also very interested in creating something that, at the very least, felt undeniably happy. The brightness of the colors, I hope, helps convey that feeling. Then on my way to work one morning after a bible study, I was praying and thanking God for the innumerable blessings he continues to shower upon me. I remember specifically saying I felt so full of love and joy that there was nothing to do but let it flow out me. (Epiphany!) I suddenly realized that has been the unknown theme driving these past three paintings. It was then I decided the next painting would be more to the point. I thought verse 14 from Psalm 139 summed up the feelings I had while painting this canvas perfectly, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
