Art Classes in Topeka, KS
Mize Art Studio is located Topeka, Kansas inside Washburn View Shopping Center right next to World Cup Coffee & Crepes and across from Henry T's. It is owned and operated by the Contemporary Biblical Artist Michael Mize. In addition to using this creative studio space to create, display, and sell his own artwork, Michael also offers a variety of weekly art classes for kids, teens, and adults. These classes, which meet year-around, give students the opportunity to draw, paint, print, collage, and sculpt with a wide range of art tools and materials. A great many artistic techniques and stylistic approaches are covered allowing students to gain experience in the creative process and giving them increased confidence in their own art making skills.
Michael has nearly 30 years experience as an artist and taught art in public high schools for 18 years. Before operating in the current retail location, Michael offered art classes and workshops for 3 years in his home studio, as well as teaching art classes for local Homeschool Co-ops and the NOTO Arts District. His teaching style draws on his years of professional experience and makes all his classes approachable and enjoyable for any skill level from the beginner to the seasoned practitioner.
Since the early 2000’s, Mize’s artwork has exclusively explored various aspects of his faith in Christ and his belief in the Bible. His art has become his own personal ministry and his paintbrush has become his pulpit. Whether the work is pictorial or abstract, it all seeks to honor and praise God and invite the viewer into a dialogue about their own relationship with God. It is his sincere hope that as you browse the artwork on this website you would feel the inherent joy that he tries to infuse within the work. More importantly though, it is his prayer that you would experience a presence in the art that leads your heart and mind to God. It is always his great pleasure to discuss the content of his work and how it relates to Yeshua (Jesus) and his remarkable, transformational love.
