"Living Stones (1 Peter 2:4-5)"
"To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Yeshua Messiah."
I really enjoy the imagery this verse evokes of us as a body of believers joining together and becoming something greater than ourselves; and doing it on the firm foundation of our savior Yeshua. The church is not simply a building, it is lives of the faithful as they move and work within this temporary world. We were, however, never meant to navigate this life alone, and when we band together, God's strength is made manifest in our collective weakness. This humble, yet sturdy building is a visual metaphor of this idea, built on a corner stone bearing an Alpha and Omega as a reference to Yeshua. (Revelation 1:8) The vessels outside the building represent our spiritual sacrifices mentioned in the theme verse. We demonstrate our faith as we offer to God our "first fruits" in our tithes and pour ourselves out in service to his kingdom.
