Painted Utility Box in
NOTO Arts & Entertainment District
In the summer of 2020, in the midst of the nationwide quarantine shutdown, I had the privilege to still get out and paint this utility box in Downtown Topeka! I’m so grateful the NOTO Arts & Entertainment District for sponsoring this project and allowing me the opportunity to publicly leave my mark on my hometown. You can see the box in person right outside Bradley's Corner Cafe in the heart of NOTO. The composition is a Kansas landscape that transitions from day to night and also cycles through all four seasons. I’ve added a relevant scripture reference to each side of the box because everything I create is intended to acknowledge and honor my Heavenly Father. It's worth noting the top of the box was left unpainted to accommodate vinyl stickers bearing the NOTO Arts logo now adorn the top of each painted box.
SPRING
Isaiah 55:10-11 (ESV) 10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
