SAMSON
​& THE JUDGES

Samson was perhaps the most well known of all the judges whom God raised up to help guide the people of Israel.  This drawing depicts the climax of Samson’s life in which, through the great strength God granted him, Samson delivers judgment on the Philistines by toppling a building with his bare hands.  Samson, like Jesus, sacrificed himself in this his final act.  However, unlike Jesus who sacrificed himself in an act of great love, Samson gave his life in an act of vengeance.  Samson had asked God to strengthen him for this act to avenge himself for having his eyes taken out by the Philistines, which is why Samson is shown blindfolded.
